Second Chance Shrubs

Our shrubs are all given great care here at the nursery, but occasionally we find some that have a little damage or are sulking because they really want to get out of the pot and into the ground. To help them all find good homes where they will grow and prosper, we are bringing out these ‘seconds’ at substantially discounted prices. We will continue to bring out more as they sell.

Right now, we are offering:

Goldflame Spirea (Spiraea x bumalda ‘Gold Flame’)

Laburnum alpinum (Golden Chain Tree)

Ligustrum vulgare (Lodense Dwarf Privet)

Nannyberry Viburnum (Viburnum lentago)

Sungari Redbead Cotoneaster (Cotoneaster racemiflorus var. soongoricus) Plant Select®

More discounted varieties will be added as we get chances to bring them out.

A little more information on the Sungari Redbead Cotoneaster (Cotoneaster racemiflorus var. soongoricus) Plant Select®

This gracefully arching larger shrub, to 6-8’ tall and wide, displays leaves that are dark green above and gray white beneath. Clusters of fresh white blossoms in late spring precede abundant showy red fruit in early fall. One of the great plants selected from the Cheyenne High Plains Horticulture Research Station, where it has survived for 40+ years receiving only natural precipitation. Thought to be one of the hardiest of all the cotoneasters, this shrub is resistant to most pests and diseases, thrives with very low to moderate water in most soils, in sun or part shade, and is one of Mikl’s favorites. It is cold hardy to USDA Zone 3 or up to 7,500’.
