A natural trace mineral, carbon, and humic acid soil conditioner. It is not a fertilizer, but it has a significance effect on fertility by making the nutrients in the soil more available
A vegan organic fertilizer made from fermented soybean meal, cottonseed meal, trace elements etc. It is largely fungal biomass mixed with a bacterial biomass. It enhances both soil health and microbial life, with slow-release non-chemical fertility. It has the lowest salt index of all organic fertilizers. Used by the US government in restoration projects. We use it in our Soil Fertility Mix. pH 6.5-7.5 OMRI certified organic.
BIOSOL FORTE 7-2-1 (7% nitrogen, 2% phosphorus, 1% potassium)
The same fertilizer, but not certified organic.
Corn Gluten acts as a non-toxic “Weed and Feed”. It prevents roots from forming on germinating seeds. Best to water in after sprinkling around. Then it is good to have a dry period to allow the seedlings to dry out, so don’t over-water. Most plants like to dry out a little between waterings to get oxygen. Don’t use where you are seeding as it prevents seed germination.
Corn Gluten feeds plants with 9% nitrogen so whatever is already growing will be fertilized, weeds and all. In Colorado, Corn Gluten is quite effective in preventing weeds. One application lasts about 6 months so 2 applications a year are needed for strong control.
Applied in September / October, and again in late February / March it will prevent the majority of existing weed seeds from germinating. By doing this every year, you can virtually eliminate your weed problem. – Kelly Grummons: Timberline Gardens, July 2010

OTHER KEY PRODUCTS
Season extending device that’s a big improvement over “Wall-o-Water”. Sturdy wire frames are covered with a water-filled lining, they don’t blow over, light transmission is excellent. They can be left on all season to keep the soil warm at night, which is very beneficial for tomatoes and peppers. We planted a tomato in one on April 11, the first fruits were ripe July 15.
Nontoxic herbicide made from citrus oil (d-limonene), fast acting, as effective as 20% vinegar, with no worry about the acidic effect of 20% vinegar.
In our trials of non-toxic herbicides, this and Avenger were by far the most effective
A nifty device to catch insects with one hand, study them, then release outdoors.
Remember that even the tiniest backyard or balcony can be a stopover for those smallest of animals upon which we all depend.
