10AM – 11:30AM Forest Gardening, with Amy Scanes-Wolfe, Boulder Permaculture Design
Forest gardening is the practice of using forest ecology to design self-renewing landscapes that support biodiversity while also providing food and medicine. In this class, we will look at how to design plant polycultures that cooperate rather than compete, learn about useful edible and medicinal perennial plants for this bioregion, and share techniques for preparing soil and planting for this kind of landscape. This will be geared towards backyard-scale gardeners, although the principles are relevant at larger scales too.
