You’re Invited to Trial Rare Dwarf Tomatoes

May 7, 2024

Vilma Tomato courtesy Sara’s Kitchen Garden

A Special Tomato Offer! 2 half-price plants in return for your evaluations!

We know that many of our customers need to grow small but bountiful vegetables in containers.

So we searched out and grew a group of very special, rare varieties of tomato that are specifically intended for growing in containers – Dwarf, Micro dwarf and even hanging tomatoes! They are ready this week, but quantities are limited – only 25 to 60 plants of each variety.
Customer Participant Requirement: Participants must put their name, email and variety names onto a printed sheet at checkout. We’ll send an email with an evaluation form so you can report back to us on how they did, and how they taste. Help us bring the absolute best varieties to the Front Range!

From May 14th through 19th ALL CUSTOMERS can take up to 2 to evaluate at 1/2 price.

After May 20th , any remaining plants go into our regular stock at full price.

Varieties Available to Trial WHILE THEY LAST! LIMITED QUANTITIES AVAILABLE!

Healani
Mid-season, OP, Determinate
This red 6-10 oz. salad tomato has very impressive disease resistance including TSWV, Fusarium wilt, TMV, and heat tolerance. Also good for canning. The prolific plant is compact enough to grow in a pot.

Hundreds and Thousands
Early, OP, Determinate, Hanging
This hanging basket variety bears hundreds of currant-sized, sweet snacking fruits. Can also be grown in a pot on a tall stand. Grow in partial shade.

Jochalos
Mid-season, OP, Determinate, Micro-Dwarf
Reportedly from Bolivia, these delicious, juicy, cherry-size tomatoes ripen from pale lemon to rich gold. The sweet, fruity and tangy flavor has been compared to very sweet grapes or Moscato wine. Perfect for containers on a patio or balcony.

Pinocchio Orange
Early, OP, Determinate, Micro-Dwarf
This 10” plant has heavy yields for its size, offering tender-skinned orange cherry-sized fruits with unusual and delicious flavor that builds from mild to stronger and sweeter on the tongue. Excellent fruit set in heat. Can even be grown indoors in winter with minimum 10 hrs/day bright light and use of a tomato vibrator for pollination.  Very few left.

Vilma
Early, OP, Determinate, Micro-dwarf
The sweetest red-fruited Micro-dwarf, with tender skins and very juicy and meaty flesh. Perfect for patio and balcony pots.

If you’re looking for tomatoes perfect in containers and would prefer not to be part of the trial, fear not! We have a selection of tomatoes that work for balconies and patios. Choose from among Tidy Treats, Glacier, Gold Nugget, Black Seaman and Red Robin.
