Recycle your Planting Trays, Pots & Bags

Clear your shed and help us out!

Accepting nursery trays, pots, and our clear soil product bags, March 1 – October 31

Since Harlequin’s Gardens began in 1992, we’ve been dedicated to sustainability. In general, this means providing plants that are well adapted to Colorado conditions so they will be successful with less water, fertilizers and pest management. But Sustainability is also reusing existing products, helping to reduce new plastics being introduced into the system. Over the years, Harlequin’s Gardens has constructed 50% of our structures with recycled materials, we reuse and recycle nursery trays, pots, and our clear soil product bags, and we make compost with our biodiesel tractor!

Our recycling efforts are a community effort and include you, our customers! After spring gardening, many of us inevitably accumulate a tower of black plastic plant trays, pots, and soil amendment bags. Harlequin’s can reuse many of these items and would appreciate your contributions.
We request:

  • BLACK plastic plant trays that are in good condition. We accept trays that accommodate square pots, not round pots.
  • BLACK plastic standard planting containers that are in good condition – see image below.  Please do not bring us 4 or 6 packs, other colored plastic pots, or ceramic planters, or plant tags as we have to then pay to have them hauled away. If you have damaged or melted black 4″, quart, or gallon pots, these can be put into your curbside single-stream collection bin.

  • CLEAR plastic soil amendment bags that have come from us, and are in good, reusable condition.
  • Please deposit your trays and pots in our Pot Recycling Area, which is located on the south side of our parking lot, just east of the Soil Café during our seasonal business hours, Tue.-Sun., 9am-5pm, March 1 through October 31. Neatly stacked containers are always appreciated!
