The 2023 calendar marks the eighteenth year that Boulder artist Theresa has been designing, carving and creating her block print scroll calendars. It has become an annual tradition for her to make the calendars, and for many people, a tradition to buy them for themselves and to give as gifts. The theme for this year is some of the many houseplants she, and many people have around their homes.
“My calendar begins with a drawing that is transferred to linoleum, hand carved, rolled with ink, and printed on to paper. The last photo shows part of this process. After printing the block onto paper, it’s then scanned into the computer where the dates are added. The final calendar is printed in a limited edition of 500 onto an off-white recycled paper that hangs from a ribbon strung through a metal grommet at the top of the paper. A dowel is glued to weight the bottom of the calendar for hanging. They will arrive tightly rolled and tied. To relax the calendar, roll it face down over a clean counter, or reverse roll it, then hang and enjoy it all year long!”
Theresa has also brought us more of her hand-printed journals!
